A Message to State Representatives
From LeNora Hughes, ACC
State Representative Chair
I
am pleased to announce the State Representatives committee
is on the move, and the things we need to do, as we
represent NCCAP to the membership.
First,
an introduction of Carol Brace, ADC, from Burlington,
Vermont. Carol has agreed to assist me with this committee.
She is a strong advocate for NCCAP and its mission to
provide certification and educational information to
its members and potential members. At this writing,
Vermont does not have a State Activity Organization
or any local chapters, and Carol would like to see this
changed so there is a networking body for the Activity
Professional in Vermont. She communicates on a regular
basis with the Vermont
Healthcare Association who is very supportive of our
profession.
With
Carol's assistance, I look forward to having a Representative
participating in all of the states. Even though I will
be the main contact for the Representatives, Carol will
be the contact covering the Eastern Region with 21 states
and I will be the contact for the
Central (14) and Western Regions (15).
Eastern
Region States:
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode
Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Delaware,
Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky,
Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, North Carolina, South Carolina,
Georgia, Florida (also: District of Columbia, Bermuda,
Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands).
Central
Region:
Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma,
Tennessee, Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska,
Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Western
Region:
New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, North
& South Dakota, Montana,
Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, Hawaii,
and Alaska.
Out
of all these States, there are currently only 30 with
representation from NCCAP.
As you can see, we have our work cut out for us as we
increase the number of volunteers
to support NCCAP in their endeavor to increase the number
of certified members caring for our residents.
The
State Representative is a very important part of NCCAP,
and we thank you for your support.
I
will be in touch. All members in the Eastern Region,
look forward to hearing from Carol Brace.
